20s and 30s News

As we’ve started the new term, it’s been lovely to meet back together again however your small group has been doing so. We have four different small groups with our wonderful small group leaders; Hannah Smith and Nick Kinsey, Michelle Gibson and Mark Povey, Ben and Becky Hoddy, and Andrew Rouse and Jeanne Zimmerman. Recently, we’ve had quite a few newcomers to 20s and 30s so welcome to you if this is your first email update and it’s very exciting to have so many new faces!

This email newsletter has 5 key updates to let you know about- the new core team structure, Christmas quiz, pastoral support, 20s and 30s social media and Love Southampton needs drivers.

Core team structure

As referenced in the previous email, the leadership of 20s and 30s at Highfield is changing as Ben and Becky Hoddy and Hannah Stanley step down from their interim roles coordinating 20s and 30s. We will now be shifting to having a ‘core team’ which is made up of a representative of a small group leader from each small group serving for a period of time to support all of the 20s and 30s groups and events, meeting regularly. At the moment, this core team is made up of Hannah Smith, Ben Hoddy, Mark Povey and Jeanne Zimmerman. Please feel free to send any of us a message if there’s anything you would like to raise or have any suggestions.

Christmas Quiz

Christmas is coming and that means social time! We’re planning on having a 20s and 30s virtual Christmas quiz on Thursday 17th December at 7:30pm so please write it in your diaries and look out for more details in the coming weeks. We’d love to have as many people join as possible to celebrate Christmas together!

Pastoral support

Just to mention that we recognise that lots of people are having a difficult time at the moment as we head into another lockdown and with anything else which may be happening in the background. Please feel welcome to share what you’re going through in your small group as it’s always good to support each other practically and in prayer. Our small group leaders are always happy to chat, be a listening ear and pray for you. There’s also the church pastoral team, contactable at pastoralteam@highfield.church for yourself, or someone you know needs a listening ear, please get in touch.

20s and 30s social media

You may have noticed that our social media channels have been quiet recently! That’s because we haven’t had anyone who has been able to keep them up to date and there isn’t anyone on the core tea, who is particularly social media savvy. We would love it if there is anyone else in 20s and 30s who uses social media and would be interested in taking this on. It would only need to be a very small commitment with ideally posting semi-regularly to share information and maintain our presence on social media. If this sounds like something you could do, please get in contact with any of core team and it would be really appreciated!

Love Southampton need drivers

Love Southampton is an initiative of churches working together across the city to coordinate the practical ways we love our city. They  are looking for volunteer drivers to support with delivering supply packages to those in need including food and essential medical supplies during the lockdown. Could you serve in this practical and vital way? Click here to sign up https://buff.ly/31GT9lI

Thank you for getting to end of the newsletter! Stay safe and praying for you all.

 God bless,

20s and 30s Core Team
